Vietnam National Day

Vietnam National Day (Vietnamese: Ngày Quốc Khánh) was marked on 2 September, honoring President Hồ Chí Minh reading the Declarations of independence of Vietnam at Ba Đình Square in Hanoi on 2 September 1945.

Back to the year of 1945, on September 2nd, thousands of people gathered at the historical Ba Dinh Square to listen to the Declaration of Independence read by Ho Chi Minh, the first President of Vietnam. This officially declared Vietnam’s independence from French’s colonial force.

From then on, this has been one of the most important holidays in the Vietnamese calendar. Vietnamese people across the country celebrate this momentous milestone with flags, joyous celebrations, and nighttime fireworks. If you’re in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang, head out into the streets to join the locals in an exuberant celebration of Vietnamese patriotism and pride.
