Pitch count is very important to monitor in each game: throwing too many pitches is a sure route to injuries. Modern managers look to cut off any player around 90-100 pitches. Some managers will let experienced players hang for 120 pitches, but that’s around the maximum. Starting pitchers require a lot of rest between starts. Four to five days at least. Insufficient rest time between starts is a one-way ticket to the disabled list. Fielders – Infielders and Outfielders often get injuried diving for balls. Outfielders in particular have to be careful chasing deep fly balls, because running into the wall is all kinds of painful.
