NBA 2K has evolved from just another hyped product in the world of games

NBA 2K has evolved from just another hyped product in the world of games. It's now a moment in culture and the intersection of pop culture, music fashion, sneakers and, of course, basketball has brought the game to levels that none other game has surpassed. With its latest edition, NBA 2K23. the game broke the record when it announced J. Cole as the first ever rapper to grace the cover of NBA 2K with the Dreamer Edition. While it's no surprise that 2K made a announcement like this, especially at the end of the release process, the style of the game's design probably suggested that this would happen one day. Even with that being said this was not even the idea of 2K, it was J. Cole's.

"Three and a half " years in the past, when he dropped a shot in one break during the All-Star Weekend Saturday Night, J. Cole said 'Ronnie I'd love to join you on MyCareer and assist you in thinking about the concept of it,'" Ronnie 2K tells Complex. "I worked with our team to bring this idea to the forefront, but it was appropriate to work with Ronnie 2K. When we put out the teaser, everyone assumed it was going to just be another basketball player...it lets us live in culture, fashion, music which 2K has a seat at the table now."

Its J. Cole cover is one of four different covers on the new edition of 2K with the others featuring Michael Jordan, Devin Booker and a duo with Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi. NBA 2K23 discussion has been all over social media of late with the NBA ratings dropping this week. Kevin Durant even took at joke following his 2K rating being released.On the week prior to the game's release we talked with Ronnie Singh aka Ronnie 2K on the choice to put MJ for the title cover rather than LeBron and why Devin Booker was selected over other NBA stars MyCareer, ProAm gameplay, and much more.

As a part of the process, what is the most exciting thing you're looking forward to about with NBA 2K23? Well being able to put Jordan on the cover of the book is always thrilling as is working together with him. The announcement that lets us know that we are more enthusiastic about our game: best ever. It really speaks volumes to what we're trying achieve from a marketing standpoint but also about how this game's implications will be.

We've got the Jordan challenges. They're they're back, but they're bigger. Better. There's been lots of discussion about all of them, and the one that's likely to be a very emotional one, and one I'm anticipating going back to and Safe NBA 2K23 MT reliving is Kobe. The first game will be against each other. It's bound to be enjoyable. I'm a massive MyTeam player so I was pretty excited the prospect of more contracts and a three-way online-based co-op.
